Drag race In order to completely cope with the tough clutch operation
during drag racing, current iron pressure plate and iron middle plates (floating
plates) are converted to carbon material. The new carbon plates do not warp due
to the heat generated by drag starts. Furthermore, the shape of the pressure plate
has been newly designed (A patent has been pending). Those changes eliminate the
insufficient clutch disengagement problem caused by repeated 3 to 7 second half
clutch operation at around 8,000 rpm to 10,000 rpm (2) Clutch weight
The new full carbon clutch is 2.4 kg lighter than the current model. The weight
of the full triple carbon clutch for BNR32 is 12.1kg. The lighter weight reduces
the engine power transfer loss and increases the top speed at the drag strip. (3)
Torque delivery The torque delivery capacity is larger than the current
model. The operation is refined, more direct feeling , but actual operation is
much softer than that of metal clutch. (4) Wear & abrasion resistance
The wear and tear is less than 1/3 of the competitors. This data was derived from
Formula Nippon racing experience. In the Formula Nippon race, the competitor's
5.5 inch full carbon clutches usually require shim adjustment every 1 to 2 races.
However, our 5.5 inch full carbon clutch goes through the full season without
any maintenance. This antifriction technology used for Formula Nippon is fully
reflected in the development of the new full triple carbon. Expected prices
-- around $2,000 up from the existing ATS triple carbon The expected release
date has been postponed to August. (We are very sorry for the delay) Back
